Calais Regional Medical Services is pleased to announce that Dr. Hanford Brace and his wife, Phyllis, have relocated to Calais from Avon Park, Florida. Dr. Brace and is wife are originally from Moncton, New Brunswick.
Dr. Brace earned his M.D. from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia and served his internship at the Moncton Hospital, in New Brunswick. He is Board Certified in Family Practice and has over 35 years of experience as a Family Practitioner. He spent the last few years in Florida as a Certified Medical Director and Nursing Home Director and founded the Florida Medical Directors Association.
Dr. Brace and his wife are looking forward to returning to this area to be near more family. There are two daughters, two sons and four grandchildren in New Brunswick and one daughter and three grandchildren still in Florida. Mrs. Brace is a writer whose work has received several awards in New Brunswick and in Florida. Writing under her maiden name, McKinley, she has been published in various literary journals as well as having four collections of poems and one children’s book out. When Dr. Brace is not seeing patients he enjoys carpentry, welding, gardening, and photography.
Dr. Brace states he is looking forward to community togetherness and small town life. “It’s nice to know you can help people and when working in a small town you are able to feel that,” stated Dr. Brace.
