CRH Hosts Workshop to Develop Emergency Plans
On February 12, Calais Regional Hospital hosted a workshop for all Washington County clinics and health care facilities to assist in developing their Pandemic Flu Plans. Local emergency plans for such potential events are required through the Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act of 1986. Nancy Feiner, RN, CEN, Emergency Nurse Manager at Calais Regional Hospital was elected chair of the Washington County Local Emergency Planning Committee in December. She coordinated the event to assist our local healthcare facilities. The workshop provided an opportunity for the agencies to discuss best methods of communications during such an event.
Representatives from various healthcare agencies participated, including: Atlantic Rehab and Nursing Center, Calais Elementary School, Downeast Correctional Facility, Washington County Community College, University of Maine at Machias, Regional Medical Center at Lubec, Eastport Health Care, Down East Community Hospital, St. Croix Family Health Center, New Horizons, Remeliah House/Union Village, Maine CDC, Maine Primary Care Association, Washington County Emergency Management Agency and the Center for Emergency Preparedness of the Northeastern Maine Regional Resource Center.
