Home Health 
 "Bringing Care to You at Home"
"Bringing Care to You at Home" is the focus of Calais Regional Hospital's Home Health department. Our care team consists of Skilled Nursing, Home Health Aides, Medical Social Services and Speech, Physical and Occupational Therapists."
As an alternative to institutional care, home care imparts a sense of well being, self respect and independence to patients while providing a cost-effective method of care and helps maintain/strengthen family bonds.
CRH Home Health provides services to a wide range of communities in Washington County, Maine. Our service area includes the towns of Vanceboro, Waite, Princeton, Peter Dana Point, Grand Lake Stream, Topsfield, Baileyville (Woodland), Baring, Calais, Robbinston, Perry, Pleasant Point, Eastport, Pembroke, Dennysville, Edmunds, Wesley, Crawford, Alexander, Cooper, Charlotte and Meddybemps.
A physician referral is required to obtain Home Health Services. However, the following people may assist you in obtaining our services.
- Hospital Social Worker and/or Discharge Planner
- Your physician's office staff
- The Nursing Staff
CRH Home Health offers six disciplines of service. A plan for your care in the home will be developed by the Registered Nurse (RN) in coordination with your physician and other caregivers, i.e. therapists who might be involved in your care. The care team will include you and your family in the plan for care whenever possible.

- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- Medical Social Services
- Home Health Aides
CRH Home Health Department also has RNs who are trained in providing home intravenous therapy, as well as RNs with training in the provision of wound care.
Home Health Qualifications
Medicare
- Homebound or cannot leave home without considerable and taxing effort
- Under care of physician
- In need of skilled, intermittent services
Insurance Plans and HMOs
- Most plans include home health services
- Coverage may vary
- Each patient's coverage is verified by our staff
MaineCare
- Provides for skilled nursing and home health aide coverage
- Also provides coverage for physical, occupational, and speech therapies and medical social services
In 2006 CRH Home Health provided 11,757 home visits to patients in our service area. Please feel free to call with your questions or concerns regarding home health services.
