Dr. Hadam has a broad base of medical knowledge and practice-based experience. She completed four years of postgraduate work in health sciences and medicine, receiving her Medical Doctorate degree from Medical College of Pennsylvania. Two of those years were spent in graduate level study of Pharmacology, Microbiology, Immunology, Pathology, Anatomy, Histology and Statistics. She also completed two years of clinical rotation covering all of the clinical areas of medicine including: Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, OB/GYN, Adult Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, and both Surgical and Medical Critical Care Medicine. After Medical School, she completed an internship in Internal Medicine and a three-year residency in Anesthesiology.

During her internship she completed rotations in all areas of Internal Medicine. While in her Anesthesia residency, she successfully completed rotations in general surgery and in all surgical specialties including: Neonatal, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Orthopedics, Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery and Critical Care. In private practice as a Anesthesiologist, the majority of her practice centered on cancer surgery and perioperative pain management, general and cardio-thoracic surgery, and surgical critical care. She has completed a total of four years of medical school, four years of residency training and spent over thirteen years in practice as a staff Anesthesiologist in a busy clinical practice.

Karen Hadam, M.D., J.D. also earned a Jurist Doctorate degree from Roger Williams University School of Law and is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association.

Dr. Hadam grew up in a small town similar to Calais and is eager to settle in with her family - husband, John, and daughters, Tara and Brigit. Dr. Hadam and her family are looking forward to experiencing the area, exploring the Bay of Fundy and getting to know the people of the Calais area.
