Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a comprehensive graded exercise and education program. It is provided by the Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Department at CRH. The program is designed to gradually increase the patient's physical activity level to maximum tolerance. This will increase their endurance, exercise capability, and promote a feeling of well being and independence. Patients with a history of lung disease/problems are candidates for Pulmonary Rehabilitation. All patients must be referred by their primary physician or pulmologist.
Benefits of Pulmonary Rehabilitation include but are not limited to:
- increased knowledge about lung disease
- increased exercise capacity
- improved ability to perform activities of daily living
- decrease sensation of shortness of breath
- decrease anxiety and panic
- decreased time spent in hospitals
CRH provides on a Phase III Pulmonary program, which is a self pay program. This program concentrates on reconditioning and improving the patient’s capacity for activities of daily living.
