ToothFairies Come to Calais Regional Medical Services
Calais - ToothFairies Inc. a dental hygiene service offering preventative oral health care to underserved populations (under the age of 21) came to Calais Regional Medical Services Pediatrics Office on Friday August 17. It was an exciting and much anticipated day for CRMS and ToothFairies patients.

The first patient was Rylie Burke, an adorable three year old little girl with a bouncing ponytail. She was clutching onto her stuffed Minnie Mouse and walked slowly and apprehensively towards dental hygienist Dolly Maroon, RDH. Dolly met her with a wide welcoming smile and talked to her about the chickens in her yard. Slowly Rylie became more comfortable and jumped onto her mother’s lap in the dental chair. Rylie was an excellent patient. She particularly liked the bright neon red toothbrush she received. The toothbrush has a timer and lights up when you start brushing your teeth and turns off to let you know you have brushed long enough. The dental hygienist told Rylie that she has “Princess Teeth” and that she and her parents are performing excellent dental care. Rylie left ToothFairies with a twinkle in her eyes and a sparkling white smile. Rylies’ first dental experience was a very positive one.

Dolly Maroon, the dental hygienist, answered many questions from parents and patients throughout the day. “Is my child brushing right?” “What about fluoride?” “What are sealants?” “What is the right way to floss?” Dolly answered each question in an easy understandable way.

Patients and parents were very happy and pleased with the preventative dental care provided.

Everyday many children cannot sleep or eat properly, struggle to pay attention in school, and do not smile because of untreated dental disease. Tooth decay is preventable, yet it remains one of the most common diseases of children and adolescents. The social, emotional, physical and financial repercussion of tooth decay which goes untreated is enormous. Tooth Fairies, Inc is equipped with the best portable equipment to provide the highest quality care at almost any location. Services include dental prophylaxis (cleanings) with fluoride, sealant placement, oral hygiene instruction and screenings.

Calais Regional Medical Services is pleased to able to bring ToothFairies, Inc preventative dental care services to our community. A Health Smile is a Happy Smile!
