Food Services
Wholesome, nourishing and well-balanced meals are an important part of your treatment and recovery. Calais Regional Hospital makes every effort to provide nutritious meals that are prepared according to your doctor’s orders.

Patients are served breakfast between 6 and 8 a.m.; lunch between 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.; and dinner between 5 and 6 p.m. Occasionally your meal may be delayed if you are scheduled for a special test or treatment. Whenever possible, you will be served after your examination or test.

Your breakfast tray will include a menu from which you can order your meals for the next day. Please mark your menu so it will be ready for pickup. Our food services staff makes every effort to ensure that your meals are tasty and nutritious. To accommodate you as much as possible, menus offer a variety of selections.

If you have difficulty making menu selections, a Food Services Supervisor will be happy to help you. Your nurse can contact a food services staff member to assist you. If you are on a special diet prescribed by your doctor, you will receive menus tailored to your specific needs. Individuals on special diets will receive instruction by a dietitian or Food Services Supervisor.

If a family member or friend wants to eat in your room with you, the person may go to the cafeteria, buy a meal there and take it back to your room. If the person does not want to go to the cafeteria, a guest meal tray can be delivered to your room for a small fee. Please ask your nurse for details.

Cafeteria
The cafeteria at Calais Regional Hospital is open daily from 11:15 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. While it is primarily designed to serve hospital employees, visitors are welcome to eat in the cafeteria at any time it is open.

Vending Machines
Vending machines for snacks and beverages are located in the Emergency Department waiting room and a vending machine for coffee is also located near the coffee shop in the Main Lobby. They are available 24 hours a day.
