Employee Medical Plan
We provide a health insurance plan for full-time and part time employees. Our coverage options include individual, you & children, you & spouse, you & family, or no coverage. You may decline coverage and receive extra pay instead. Your contribution share is on pre-tax dollars.
Our dental coverage includes Diagnostic & Preventative and Basic. Coverage options are the same as the Medical plan.
Life Insurance/Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Plan
To help ensure the financial security of those who depend upon you, we offer $50,000 of free coverage for full time and $25,000 of free coverage for part time employees.
Dependent Life Insurance
We offer the option to purchase additional coverage for you or your dependents at group rates.
Short and Long-Term Disability
We offer the option to purchase disability insurance at group rates.
Medical and Dependent Care Reimbursement Accounts
With a flexible spending account, you have additional tax savings opportunities. This plan allows you to reimburse yourself for routine health care and dependent day care expenses with tax-free dollars. This benefit equates to a significant discount on your expenses.
403(b) Pension Plan up to 4%
We maintain an excellent retirement program for eligible employees. Our 403(b) plan allows you to set aside a portion of your pay each pay period in convenient pre-tax payroll deductions. It also lets you enjoy discretionary basic contributions as well as discretionary matching contributions from us based on the amount you save. It gives you investment options, so you can select the investment strategy that makes the most sense for you and the flexibility to change how you save and invest your money quarterly. Hospital discretionary contribution is 2% of base salary after one year of employment as eligible. Additionally, you receive a 2% hospital matching contribution if you contribute 2%.

Direct Deposit and Savings
Your paycheck may be deposited directly into your checking and/or savings account at local banks if you choose.
Employee Assistance Plan
Referral for assessment and counseling services are available for you and your immediate family members. This benefit is available immediately upon employment.
Call and called back time is paid if your job requires you to be on call.
Shift differentials are paid for nights, weekends and holidays.
Continuing Education and Forgivable Education Loans
Continuing education is offered as well as forgivable loans for job related courses.
PEP Time (Planned, Earned and Paid)
Rather than providing employees a specific number of vacation days, holidays and sick days, Calais Regional Hospital uses an innovative, all encompassing paid time off system. This approach provides for the creation of an account for each eligible employee into which the hospital places accrued hours each pay period. Payment for any time off is made to you from your account. The rate at which you accumulate funds in your account is determined by your years of service with the Hospital.
Forgivable Tuition Assistance Loan Progrem
We believe continuing education is important and this benefit is designed to accommodate employees who want to go back to school and obtain additional academic credentials that will benefit the hospital.
Medical care and partial replacement of wages for on-the-job injuries are available through Worker's Compensation insurance. This benefit is paid entirely by the hospital and is available to you immediately upon becoming an employee.
Contributions to Social Security are paid by both Calais Regional Hospital and you.
Employees are eligible for health immunizations for influenza, tuberculosis and hepatitis upon hire.
Emergency Department and Clinic Discount
Employees and family members (as defined in the employee handbook) are exempt from the emergency department and clinic service charge at CRH.
Notary Public Services
CRH offers its employees the services of a Notary Public.
CRH has provided for a local pharmacy to offer prescription drugs to be purchased at 10% over cost to employees and family members (as defined in the employee handbook).
Jury Duty Pay
Full and part time employees, who have completed the initial employment period and are required to take time off because of jury duty, receive compensation for jury service according to the CRH jury duty policy.
After three months of employment, full and part time employees are eligible for bereavement pay according to the CRH bereavement leave policy.
